ID-card PIN codes can now only be replaced at Police and Border Guard Board service points.

28.02.2019

Starting from March, ID card PIN codes can only be replaced at Police and Border Guard Board service points and the service will no longer be offered in bank branches.

Although up until now, it has been possible to do so at Swebank and SEB bank branches, then as of December 2018, the Police and Border Guard Board is issuing new ID cards in cooperation with a new partner and due to that, banks are no longer offering ID card related services. Starting from March 1, you will have to visit Police and Border Guard Board service points to reactivate your ID card and/or digi-ID to be able to establish your identity in a digital environment and give digital signatures again. Additionally, it will no longer be possible to suspend, reactivate or invalidate ID card and digi-ID certificates in bank branches.

As an alternative to the ID card, we recommend also implementing other convenient solutions – such as Mobile-ID and Smart-ID – for establishing your identity in a digital environment and giving digital signatures.
