Smart-ID crossed the threshold of one million users
The electronic identity solution Smart-ID created by SK ID Solutions now has a million users. In Estonia, Smart-ID currently has 257 500 users.
SK ID Solutions introduced the new authentication solution Smart-ID to all users in the Baltics in February 2017. Since then, the number of Smart-ID users has been growing steadily and now, the solution has crossed the threshold of one million unique users. If in Estonia, Smart-ID has nearly 260 000 users, then in Latvia, nearly 400 000 people have started using the authentication solution and in Lithuania, over 350 000 people. Smart-ID users make nearly 14 million transactions in a month by entering online services and confirming transactions.
In addition to the number of users, the number of online services that can be used with Smart-ID has also increased – there are 80 services available today.
The innovative and convenient Smart-ID works on a simple principle: the user downloads the Smart-ID app from Google Play or App Store to his smart device and identifies himself electronically by using an ID-card or bank link or by visiting his local SEB Bank or Swedbank branch office. As with the ID-card, Smart-ID also requires the use of PIN1 and PIN2 codes which the user will create within the same app.
SK ID Solutions introduced the popular solutions Smart-ID to the Baltic markets in the beginning of 2017. It can be used to access and use the online services available in the financial, educational, telecommunications, energy and retail sectors. Using Smart-ID is free of charge. In addition to Smart-ID, 300 000 people in Estonia and Lithuania are also using the Mobile-ID service offered by SK ID Solutions.
