SK Annual Conference 2025 Asked the Questions That Matter
On November 5, we hosted our 15th Annual Conference in Tallinn. This year we did things differently and brought back speakers from earlier years to see what had changed in their fields, and what hadn’t.
The conference that was visited onsite by 350 people and streamed to 500 industry players, kicked off with visual artist and educator Kati Orav, who talked about drawing as thinking, about the struggle of making something imperfect but real. She advised participants to make visual notes, i.e. drawing ideas instead of writing words.
SK Talks, hosted by COO Liisa Lukin and head of business strategy Piruza Harutjunjan, featured guests from Belgium, Armenia and Estonia who discussed the current state of SK ID Solutions, and our evolving identity technology in different countries.
As a keynote speaker returning from the 2019 Annual Conference, professor Pim Haselager from the Radboud University raised questions about authenticity in a world where artificial intelligence and neurotechnology are advancing faster than policy can follow.
Kristjan Port, who presented at our Annual Conference in 2013, made his comeback by exploring how interaction between people has changed and how society grows increasingly complex. He spoke about identity as both an answer and a reaction to this complexity. This theme resonated throughout the day.
Jon Ølnes from Signicat addressed the European Digital Identity Wallet, a project that still hasn’t solved its central problem: who pays for what.
The conference also included video greetings from speakers who had presented at earlier conferences. Zita Zarina from the Latvian Banking Association, quantum computer scientist Ieva Čepaite, and privacy advocate Kirils Solovjovs each offered a brief reflection on how the conversation around digital identity, security, and governance had evolved or, in some cases, remained stuck on the same problems.
As a long-lasting tradition, comedian and speaker Stuart Goldsmith revisited Tallinn to conclude the conference day with his Summary of the Day stand-up. After the networking hour, he once again came to stage to engage the audience in the important issue of sustainability and climate change.
All videos, presentations and visualised notes are available on the Annual Conference website https://conference.skidsolutions.eu.
Next Annual Conference will be held in November 2026.
