Year 2021 at SK ID Solutions

01.01.2022

In 2021, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of SK. In two decades, SK has become an international company – we have established offices in different countries and grown our team to 70 people. By the end of the year, our services were used by 4 million people in the Baltics. This means that every single one of our employees helps 57,000 people to enjoy the digital era effortlessly.

In the beginning of the year, we reached an important milestone in Lithuania – 1 million qualified level Smart-ID users. This means that more than 58% of all internet users in Lithuania can connect to internet banking, use electronic services of all institutions, and sign documents.

In April, the milestone of 1 million Smart-ID users was also reached in Latvia.

In May, we conducted the second international survey of authentication tools among the residents of the Baltics, Finland, and Sweden. According to this, the most reliable authentication tool in both Latvia and Lithuania is Smart-ID provided by SK.

In June, SK ID Solutions became a member of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry – the biggest association of entrepreneurs in Latvia uniting 6000 organisations.

In the same month, our international team participated in the Mobile World Congress 2021 in Barcelona where we showcased digital identity solutions. Due to the pandemic, the MWC took place in a hybrid format.

In June, we launched myid.skidsolutions.eu where people can get an overview of their Mobile-ID, Digi-ID, ID-card, and Smart-ID accounts and their usage. The new environment is also the most reliable source for finding out what data SK ID Solutions has collected about the users of its services. In cooperation with the Estonian state, we have also created a similar solution for the Estonian state portal eesti.ee, where you can see data on state documents and transactions made with them.

The number of Huawei device users is growing rapidly which is why in July, we added the Smart-ID application to the Huawei AppGallery.

In August, SK ID Solutions was awarded the title of “Successful Estonian Company 2021” for its good financial results. SK’s credit rating is AAA or excellent and this rating is valid internationally.

In September, we attended Europe’s biggest fintech event Money 20/20, where we demonstrated secure authentication solutions that are essential for the fintech sector.

It is important for SK not to burden the environment any more than necessary. Although it may seem at first glance that digital services, such as those provided by SK, do not have a significant environmental impact, this may not always be the case. In order to understand the wider environmental impact of our services and how to reduce it, we joined the Green Tiger Academy study program established in October as a cooperative project between four universities.

As a part of our environmental responsibility, we planted 360 trees in the Baltics over the course of the year. This project was connected with our customer survey where every answer provided was rewarded with one planted tree.

In October, we contributed to the management of the DigiT Baltic 2021 conference that was organised by the Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania and the Infobalt association. The main goal of the event was to introduce the Baltic countries to the tools set out in the EU eIDAS regulation and the innovative digital solutions used to ensure the security of digital transactions. Viktoras Kamarevcevas, the Business Manager of SK in Lithuania, shared his vision on how citizens and businesses could be taking full advantage of eIDAS tools in the future.

For the first time, we held the traditional SK Annual Conference in a hybrid format in November. The Anniversary Conference was attended by 496 people from 16 countries. The keynote speakers were Urte Neniskyte, Doctor of Neuroscience from Vilnius University, and Zita Zarina, a member of the Board of the Bank of Latvia.

In the same month, we joined the Latvian IT Cluster. The members of this association share one joint vision – to create a value network of Latvian companies who provide reliable information system development and application services for export.

SK’s solutions were also exhibited in the Estonian Pavilion at the Dubai EXPO 2020.
